#A29 National Lemon Juice Day

August 29th was National Lemon Juice Day and 8 year old Lacianne Carriere wowed the Los Angeles City Council speaking before them for the very first time, offering them Free Fresh Lemonade for Justice and AlexsLemonadeStand.org.  The little girl is no stranger to applause, as the younger sister of actor RJ Mitte (star of the hit show Breaking Bad), she made her own first appearance on camera at the age of 1 1/2, but this was her first visit to City Hall since she sang a Peace song at the Occupy LA encampment before the November 30th raid, and her very first time speaking to ANY City Council, let alone one of the Nation's most watched City meetings.  She brought smiles to everyone's faces, when she burst into song, with "When Life Gives You Lemons... You Gotta Make Some Fresh Juice!" http://youtu.be/0SKOVKcGMzI

Here is vid of City Council Member Paul Koretz juggling Lemons for Justice with RJ MItte while Lacianne sings: http://youtu.be/nAytwrpzCjs
and Chief Beck wishing everyone a Happy National Lemon Juice Day while Lacianne sings:  http://youtu.be/hTIXQPvzpiE

Co-Creator of the "When Life Gives You Lemons Make Fresh Juice" civic engagement campaign http://youtu.be/XmTXUuloloA, Melissa Balin, explains the innocent publicity stunt, "at a time when American farmers need our support, where appropriate labeling of genetically modified produce is a genuine issue, and organic farm-to-table practices should be encouraged, Lacianne Carriere and her mom and I agreed that having Lacianne wish City Council a Happy National Lemon Juice Day would be a fun lighthearted way to raise awareness to these constituent concerns with a smile and a reminder that we must prioritize a sustainable future for the youth throughout our governmental process."

"WhenLifeGivesYouLemons...Make Fresh Juice" is a social action campaign to remind people of ways to turn pain into art and find creative non-violent ways to express themselves and their grievances as protected by Free Speech.  Lacianne joined other celebrity activists including her brother RJ Mitte http://instagr.am/p/OxlKhBlf-_/, artist Shepard Fairey http://instagr.am/p/Oxz7rrFf87/, and actress Q'orianka Kilcher ( http://instagr.am/p/KGck75Ff7z/), in selecting their own "LEMON" to send #LemonInstagrams2Congress as a fun way to encourage civic engagement and transparent participatory Democracy http://stayoccupied.blogspot.com/2012/08/whenlifegivesyoulemons-send-them-to.html.

Lacianne chose #Justice4TaraCalico ((http://instagr.am/p/OxjieDFf9R/), a social justice campaign that has been seeking the Truth in the New Mexico disappearance of Tara Calico (http://www.TaraCalico.com) for over twenty years, under the attention of Oprah Winfrey, and countless National media outlets and currently the subject of a new documentary being Executive Produced by Lacianne's brother, RJ Mitte.  New science is available to solve the case and celebrities and activists are demanding Justice for the small town that could be Anywhere USA.

Lacianne's photo will travel in an exhibit to Washington DC to be shown to members of Congress for National Fresh Juice Week in January 2013, but the effect of engaging in a healthy positive experience with municipal government at a young age without the threat of rubber bullets or tear gas canisters, or even more terrifyingly real gunfire, as at Congresswoman Gabrielle Gifford's attack, all tensions that the whole Nation is still recovering from, is a priceless gift that will have impact over many people's lifetimes.

Thank you for your time and consideration of this matter of metaphorical importance to us all- at a time when legislation regarding GMO labeling should be on everyone's minds, how come NOBODY covered NATIONAL LEMON JUICE DAY?  What's it take to make "National" "News" these days lol?

#WhenLifeGivesYouLemons... Send Them To Congress!

Activist groups Stay Occupied and The Fresh Juice Party have teamed up to create a safe way for the American People to air their grievances without getting arrested, or sprayed with rubber bullets!  From August 20th, National Lemonade Day, until August 29th, National Lemon Juice Day, Americans are encouraged to use various social media platforms to Tweet #LemonInstagrams2Congress

Lemon laws are American state laws that provide a remedy for purchasers of cars in order to compensate for cars that repeatedly fail to meet standards of quality and performance. These vehicles are called lemons. The federal lemon law (the Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act) protects citizens of all states.  There is currently no such thing for governmental bodies and programs that fail to meet standards of quality and performance... hmmm...

The community social media art project #LemonInstagrams2Congress first launched In Solidarity with the Occupy May 1st General Strike (#M1GS), as a creative non-violent means of enabling the American People to air their grievances, as protected by The First Amendment of the Constitution.  Generations young and old are using social media applications such as Instagram and Pinterest to upload pictures of lemons inscribed with grievances; and sharing platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, and TweetCongress.Org, to send the images to members of Congress and share globally in order to engage in meaningful dialogue designed to create effective change.  Celebrities and activists already involved in this project dedicated to making civic engagement fun and accessible, include: Activist Band, The Fresh Juice Party, Actress Q'orianka Kilcher, Musician PonyBoy of Los Marijuanos, Internet Radio Personality Steve Gelder, Filmmaker Melissa Balin, members of Los Angeles Community Action Network and members of Occupy LA.

Between August 20th (#A20) and August 29th (#A29) people can participate by uploading their pics or e-mailing them directly to StayOccupied@gmail.com

"Participation Sans Intimidation." Filmmaker, Melissa Balin, explains, "The current political climate has instilled fear in the People to express themselves out in the streets.  We hope that this will be a fun, safe way for the next generation to learn about the concept of transparent participatory democracy, which is one of the Principles of Solidarity of the Occupy Wall Street Movement.  We have chosen #A20 - #A29 in celebration of California's effective lemon law and in the hopes of raising further awareness to other important issues like organic farm-to-table practices, encouraging small business entrepreneurship, and protection against politically motivated selective enforcement, such as protecting small children from receiving fines or citations for their neighborhood lemonade stands- in a creative and non-threatening way to those city officials whom we have seen exhibit a propensity to handcuff in other public forums."

The project will become a traveling exhibit planned to arrive in Washington D.C. in time to help Congress celebrate National Fresh Squeezed Juice Week January 17-23, 2013.

Last night I dreamt a dingo ate the police officer who killed my baby

Chalk = Free Speech.
It's a recurring dream... one where the only Justice available to the victims of police brutality is a random act of violence committed by nature...

PTSD from Police Brutality and its collateral damage is a drag...
but turning your Pain into Art- that is transformative and righteous.

Chalk Is Art.
#ArtIsNotACrime
Chalk = Free Speech.
Free Speech Is Not A Crime... but the LAPD thinks it is an arrestable offense.  City Attorneys around the country know that Chalk on public property it is not a prosecutable offense.
Someone should remind the LAPD that the exercising of a constitutional right cannot be converted into a crime and of the ACLU civil suit recently filed against the NYPD for unlawful arrests...

Expect Us To Express Us.
